Who is the Writer?

I’m Scott, and I am currently working on a MA in Expressive Therapy and Mental Health Counseling. I am a gay male who love to create things in my spare time. I use the arts in my life as a way to make sense of the world. It helps me heal, to center, and to live a better life.

Why Gay Does Art Exists :

I did a month long Haiku a day challenge for a class as a way to get my creative juices flowing. I found that I really enjoyed the process of writing a Haiku or Senryu each day, regardless of it’s outcome. Some of those Haiku I really liked. Others, not so much. But each one had value to me.

After the class, I decided to complete another Haiku challenge, this time, for a year. One Haiku a day, every day, for one year. I started this blog after completing over sixty of them (which I’ll publish on this blog shortly), and aim to post one Haiku every day, one per day. I am not a master poet, and some of my Haiku may not be “authentic” Haiku. They may actually be Senryu. I’m O.K. with that.

I write more Haiku then just one a day. I also write prose, poetry and other types of creative writing. I aim to use this blog as a way to share some of my work that I’m proud of, in addition to a new Haiku every day.

In essence, I am a gay male that like to create, hence : Gay Does Art.
